Google Pixel Fold 2 Release Date
There had been speculation that the first glimpse at the Google Pixel Fold 2 would take place at Google’s annual I/O conference in May 2024. However, the company decided not to highlight the fold during this event, focusing instead on upcoming AI features, which resulted in that time slot not being available.
Since the previous Pixel Fold launched on July 27, 2023, the second version will likely launch on the same day.
Google Pixel Fold 2 price
There is also some speculation regarding the potential price of the Pixel Fold 2. Taking a closer look at the first Pixel Fold and comparing it to the average price of foldable devices launched so far and those we anticipate launching in the year ahead, we will play a guessing game once again.
It was originally priced at $1,799 at launch, similar to devices like the Galaxy Z Fold. In terms of the exact price of the Pixel Fold 2, we are not expecting an extreme deviation, even though more and more foldable devices are being adopted, so the price may be slightly lowered.

Impressive Google Pixel Fold 2 leaks that make it worth waiting
Google Pixel Fold 2 camera
As far as the Pixel Fold 2 camera system is concerned, there is no information available at the moment regarding its capabilities.
The cameras on the original Pixel are as follows:
- 48MP main camera
- 10.8MP ultra-wide camera
- A 5x telephoto camera with a 10.8MP
- 9.5MP selfie camera on the cover-display
- 8MP selfie camera on the inner display
The Pixel Fold 2 appears to have some improvements, most likely in the camera on the cover display or in the camera on the inner display. For example, Google could improve the resolution or add new features, such as better low-light capabilities. As a result, selfies taken with the device unfolded or folded would be even better.
As Google’s cameras have depended heavily on software updates and processing algorithms, it is quite likely that the Pixel Fold 2 will feature the same camera hardware and new enhancements to its software.
Google Pixel Fold 2 storage
Two memory configurations may be available at launch for the original Pixel Fold: 12/256GB and 12/512 GB. Although we do not have any concrete information at this time, not even leaks or rumors, we cannot rule out the possibility of transferring a 1TB model to the folding Pixel lineup in light of the popularity of the non-folding Pixel.
The expected storage capacity of the Google Pixel Fold 2 is as follows:
- 256 GB
- 512 GB
- 1TB
Google Pixel Fold 2 design
One of the most exciting aspects of the upcoming Pixel Fold 2 is its design. Although these leaks should be taken with a grain of salt, we’re in for a major redesign.
According to Android Authority, a leaked photo shows what appears to be the new Pixel Fold 2. In addition, the camera bump design has changed dramatically. Pixel Fold 2 now sports a square-ish camera island instead of a camera bar, which sticks out quite a bit.
As is evident from the leaked image, the cover screen of the Galaxy Fold has a narrower bezel and a similar design to the Galaxy Fold lineup. An additional leak from OnLeaks corroborates the design rumor. These renders show the same camera design, but the cover screen is narrower.
Google Pixel Fold 2 display
The Pixel Fold’s original display size is 7.6 inches, with a 6:5 aspect ratio, and its 5.8-inch cover screen has a 17.4:9 aspect ratio. Industry expert Ross Young says a big screen is coming to Google’s next-generation devices, like the Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, and Pixel Fold 2.
Ross on X (formerly Twitter) reported that “Leaks on the Pixel Fold 2 do not have the correct display sizes. There will be a foldable screen that is 8.02″ and a cover screen that is 6.29”. The production of panels should begin in April.
The speculations remain unconfirmed until official confirmation is provided by Google (this will not take place before the announcement itself). They are our only clues to what the Pixel Fold 2 may have in the way of display features.
While the original Pixel Fold differed significantly from other foldable smartphones, adjusting the display cover may not suit everyone. However, its design will be revealed when the Pixel Fold 2 is revealed.
Google Pixel Fold 2 battery
With the initial Pixel Fold, we were provided a battery capacity of 4,821mAh, which was pretty adequate for a foldable. However, since we might get a slightly larger display size and a larger device overall, the battery capacity may also increase. At this point, such a prediction lacks any supporting evidence.
The Pixel Fold 2’s fast charging technology could also be upgraded to improve power efficiency. Pixel Fold’s original battery can only be charged at 21W, a slow charge rate for such a large battery. The Pixel Fold 2 should be able to charge fast with at least 30W or at least 66W when wired. It will only take time to tell.
Google Pixel Fold 2 features and software
With its Android 14 QPR, Google has already introduced various interesting foldable-specific features, including the option to customize the aspect ratio of different applications.
Initially, the Pixel Fold 2 will run Android 14, with an update to Android 15 scheduled for later this year. Google will offer software updates for seven years, as has become the norm since the Pixel 8 series was introduced.
Google Pixel Fold 2 hardware and specs
As with the Pixel 8, the Pixel Fold 2 will probably have the Google Tensor G3 chipset. Next-generation Tensor G4 could be onboard, but there are several factors to consider. It will be either necessary for Google to release the Pixel Fold early or delay its launch, as rumors suggest that the G4 may delay the foldable’s launch.
The planets are unlikely to align in this specific position, but anything can happen. The Pixel Fold 2 is expected to have 12GB of RAM, but 16GB may be possible thanks to new advancements in memory chip manufacturing.
